The 90's

99 Second Street

Kids & Guns

Black Clouds

Dying out loud

You Were the Bright light

99 Second Street (Brad Porcellato / Philip Moynihan)

Arty said he saw you in a new suit

who could have imagined what you were gonna do

We’ve all got demons that we wrestle with

no one knew you were about to give

Sooner or later we arrive at the same place

trouble with you  was you just couldn’t wait

You rode a city bus to a higher plane

since you’ve been gone things haven’t been the same

Oh no here we go life brings us to our knees

And he’s riding the 99 Second Street

I saw your brother just the other day

I wasn’t surprised he didn’t have much to say

No note, no story, no reason why

you decided to spread your  wings and fly…

Maybe we should have a séance

so many things I never got a chance to say

And are you receiving my signal

can you hear me through that flickering flame

Arty said he saw you in a new suit

who could have imagined what you were gonna do

We’ve all got demons that we wrestle with

no one knew you were about to give

Kids & Guns (Brad Porcellato / Philip Moynihan)

From the small towns of the northwest to the deepest south

There’s a thousand little time bombs we gotta to do something about

You can blame it on the reckless youth it goes way beyond that

It’s the power of a hand gun easy access sets the trap

Kids & Guns a flash in the night another life slips away

An eye should have been blackened in a fight

Kids & Guns blow tomorrow away

A forever filled with sorrow won’t pay

For a wasted life today, kids & guns

Bloodshed was the price what it costs to be free

Now they spend it in the streets every day like a modern currency

The urban general arms his fleet from the trunk of a coupe Deville

The young men line up anxiously waiting it’s kill or be killed

Some make the decision it’s exactly where they want to be

Others if they make it will be brave enough to see

The path they follow goes nowhere and fast

I don’t give a shit who you are you just aint gonna last

Black Clouds
(Brad Porcellato / Philip Moynihan)

You gave your black clouds to me there on display for all to see

The sun aint gonna shine today I heard your forecast calling for rain

Don’t you tell me that I’m wrong

you see your enemies all around

All your gonna take come judgment day

is all the stormy weather you gave away

You’re right never wrong You change the rules as you go along

No one is as smart as you, you open up your wallet as the glowing proof

You can run but you can’t hide from the coming storm

But if you learned to love you could rise above

All the damage you’ve done the hurt and the pain

You don’t have to forecast rain

You’ve got the power you can’t lead the way

Fueled by greed you burn a lot each day

You got a concrete heart with an iron soul

Success as your weapon you’re always playing the role

Dying out loud (Brad Porcellato / Philip Moynihan)

Half past one the last paper has crossed his desk

He’s got a deadline tomorrow and he’s thinking oh what the heck

There’s a little white devil calling his name

devils gonna kill him but he won’t feel the pain

It won’t leave a track there won’t be a trace

given a little time those lines will erase

Yesterday and tomorrow to

he’s dying out loud and there’s nothing I can do

He’s dying out loud slipping away

the devil gave him a ticket now he’s gotta pay

He’s got his life flying at a jet liners pace

with the devil in control it’s all such a waste

I tried to tell him how much I care

the comments stay the same it’s mind your own affairs

But I’ve seen leaders follow and tough guys fall

the devil won’t quit till he’s taken it all

He never stopped to think about the wife & kids

the devil cools hearts & numbs the pain in sin

She didn’t turn her back

she watched you walk away

she can start again

It’s a card I doubt you’ll get to play

You Were the Bright light (Brad Porcellato / Philip Moynihan)

Just when I seemed to have it all figured out

I was driving home and noticed a light on in your house

I thought about stopping to press the buzzer on the wall

But I guess I’ll never be man enough to chance another fall

You were the bright light that shone from me

You helped me to be all the things all the things that I could be

You left me alone to wrestle, wrestle with the reasons why

The love I lost yesterday left without saying goodbye

I could spend a thousand years just thinking through

I could pretend you were someone else someone I never knew

They say I gotta keep my head up and I know I gotta to move on

I hate living without an answer who’s right and what went wrong

You were my lover and my best friend

A few simple words could have brought this to an end
